Clinical dietetics

Vie Saine has been providing services in clinical dietetics for over seven years. The two dietitians present have more than twenty five years of experience between them. Clinical dietetics is the center and nervous system of our center.
Only the most up to date and scientifically proven methods and techniques are used in our center. As you all know, this science, along with all the other health sciences, are in constant evolution. Each day brings a new set of information that either complements or corrects past knowledge. With our staff frequently visiting the USA for conferences and updates, and with both our members being active members in the American Dietetic Association and the Lebanese Dietetic Association, we make sure our patients benefit from the most up to date information and equipment.
How do I get to see the dietitian?
You can either call us or make an appointment or your doctor may refer you to see us.
What kind of problems / issues do you deal with?
A whole host of problems/issues are dealt with. The following is not an all-inclusive list:
- Obesity and weight loss
- Heart disease and diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Endocrine problems (thyroid...), gastro-intestinal problems and other medical issues
- Women and children issues (preparing for pregnancy, pregnancy, lactation, children's metabolic problems...)
- Non-surgical body contouring (body remodeling and cosmetic reasons)
- Physical fitness
- Education, healthy cooking techniques and food management
- Others
What happens when I take an appointment?
A blood test is usually ordered to check for your liver, kidney, blood levels (red blood, white blood), and thyroid hormones among others. Then, based on your needs and your goals, you may undergo any one of the following tests:
- Weight and height
- Pertinent medical history
- Body composition: Using the Quadscan Body Stat 4000, each patient's body composition is checked and identified. Our machine uses the latest technology in determining the amount of fat and water and muscle mass in your system. These values are important to help us identify your goals and how to reach them, while mapping the problems and working with your assets. This machine has been used in numerous clinical studies in the United States and Europe to study changes in the body mass index. Unlike other conventional machines, testing with the Quadscan has been validated in several scientific studies.
- Metabolic testing: Using our ReeVue machine, we will help identify each person's resting metabolic rate (RMR). When RMR is defined, diets, exercise programs according to abilities and needs, as well as life style changes can be identified to best achieve your goals. ReeVue has been used extensively in research and clinical trials in the United States.
- Skin Folds: Using special calipers, your body fat distribution is measured and calculated. This is important because body fat distribution has been linked with certain diseases. Further, by identifying your areas of body fat distribution, we can effectively target those areas and eliminate them using our wide array of services. (Exercise, body remodeling machines, lipodissolve and mesotherapy...)
- Physical fitness evaluation: Intensity testing, fitness testing and other testing to determine your exercise abilities.
After all the parameters are determined, an individualized diet and nutrition plan is set forth and discussed in detail with you. Our philosophy has always been to involve the patient as much as possible in the decision making and planning.
Then, follow up appointments and close monitoring of your progress is maintained.
When do I start seeing results?
Depending on your needs, you may start seeing changes in as little as one week. Most of our patients/clients will start seeing results fairly quickly and are able to maintain those results.
