Presso-Therapy

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy fluid balance in the body. An ongoing flow of lymphatic fluid promotes good health, but when a person neglects the basics of good health - exercise, rest and proper diet - the body becomes stressed and the lymphatic system is burdened. This causes toxins and plasma to accumulate, interfering with cell nourishment. The immune system becomes depressed and the body's vulnerability to disease increases.
As a general rule, lymphatic drainage is done in a manual way through a massage that lasts approximately one hour. Now, there are devices reproducing the work of hands, an example of which is presso- therapy.
Pressotherapy is applied through the use of special boots or pressure cuffs that go from the pelvis to the ankles, which exert an ascending and descending pressure throughout the extremities. There is another attachement for the abdominal area. With a smooth pumping, pressotherapy increases lymph flow up to 3 times, releasing toxins which also improves blood circulation.
Why would I need presso-therapy?

- Used for non-infected inflammatory conditions (e.g. sprains and strains)
- To reduce bloating and swelling

- To improve skin tone and firmness
- To shape the legs and reduce cellulite
- As a treatment after surgery
- For sports injuries
- For post-traumatic edema of the extremities.
- For the elimination of toxins and waste
- To help increase the immunity
- To help in reducing stress and increasing the body´s ability to relax.
Any contraindications to presso-therapy?

- Inflammation
- Tuberculosis
- Cancer

- Cardiac insufficiency
How many sessions will I need?
Depending on what is being treated, and what condition the body is in, sessions can range from 30 to 50 minutes. You will need to do an average of 2 -3 sessions per week for 1.5 to 2 months.
What should I expect after the session?
Presso-therapy is a very relaxing experience. Immediately after the treatment your legs should feel extremely light and relaxed. Also you may experience an increased urge to urinate because of the mobilization of water.
